- Educational Requirements: Bachelor of
Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent, to include a
one-year internship in a hospital clinical laboratory in the country of
origin. Additional degree/diploma in the field of medical microbiology
/ molecular biology / biotechnology with molecular biology related to
medicine, especially in the field of medical diagnostics, is highly
desirable.
- Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Board of Registry registration in Medical Technology in the country of
origin. Registration must be current at the time of employment.
- Professional Experience:
Five (5) years’ full-time employment in the molecular biology section
of a clinical laboratory as a technologist. Two (2) years’ experience
in a supervisory capacity. Should have an in-depth knowledge of common
molecular biology protocols with hands-on experience and ability to
troubleshoot problems associated with such protocols. Should have
hands-on experience in handling automated molecular biology instruments
and be able to train other staff in the section efficiently. Good
communication skills in molecular biology techniques is most essential.
Experience in handling protocols related to real-time PCR is required.
- Specialized Knowledge:
Any relevant additional degree/diploma/specialized training will be
noted at the time of employment and will be an added advantage.
Evidence of publications in journals will be an added advantage and is
preferable.
- Must have good oral and written
English language skills and will be expected to speak English in the
laboratory and on the nursing units at all times.
